Rodong Sinmun on Wednesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard: Japan, still harboring its old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere", is keen to equip its air "self-defense force" with the said fighters and dramatically bolster up its operational capability. This is based on its judgment that it cannot do anything without the U.S. backing.

The reason for Japan's above-said judgment can be explained by the fact that Japan considers it as the only way for achieving its objective as the Asian people are opposed to its moves to emerge a military giant, the commentary notes.

Drawing attention to the fact that Japan is attaching importance to the U.S.-Japan joint military exercises outside its territory under the pretext of "security," the commentary observes that its ulterior intention is to launch its overseas aggression in real earnest, backed by the U.S.

There is no guarantee that Japan would not go over to dangerous overseas military operations, pursuant to the new defense strategy of the U.S. which attaches importance to the Asia-Pacific region with main emphasis on the Korean Peninsula, concludes the commentary.
