U.S. Tries to Turn Philippine Island to Naval Base

| Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Philippine seafarers on Thursday accused the United States of taking advantage of upcoming joint military exercises to build a naval base on the island of Palawan, in the west of the archipelago. The vice president of the Association of Pamalakaya Fishermen, Salvador France, told local media that the Pentagon wants its 6,000 soldiers to familiarize with the field to turn Palawan into a military base. France said that the White House claims that the Philippines will become the new Okinawa. |
