Sri Lanka Strongly Reacts to U.S. Pressure
Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is becoming undisguised in its pressure upon Sri Lanka these days, making the situation complicated.

The U.S. said that the government forces of Sri Lanka abused the human rights of civilians at the final phase of their actions to terminate the civil war and branded it as war crimes.

And it was reported that the U.S. was wooing the UN Human Rights Council into adopting a resolution on putting pressure on the government of Sri Lanka.

Such moves are laying obstacles in the way of Sri Lanka which has just entered a new phase of development after putting an end to several decades of the civil war.

The issue of tribal dispute in Sri Lanka is a product of the Western colonialists' policy of national estrangement.

The U.S. was displeased with the development in Sri Lanka and mentioned only the so-called war crimes of its government forces during the civil war in the "country to country report on human rights in 2009".

Worse still, it blamed the president of Sri Lanka by calling his name and is working hard to put international pressure upon the country's government.

The government and people of Sri Lanka are, however, strongly reacting to the U.S. moves to bring again social discord and crisis of division to their country.

On February 27, massive protests took place against the U.S. sponsored resolution in various parts of Sri Lanka.

Government officials and a lot of people of different social strata in the protests strongly urged the U.S. to immediately roll back the illegal resolution and expressed their will to continue their anti-U.S. demonstrations till their demand is met.

The international community extends support to the people of Sri Lanka in their just struggle to foil the interference of the U.S. and achieve peace, stability and development of the country by their own efforts.
