New Novel Produced in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- A full-length novel "Mt. Osong" was created in the DPRK recently. The novel, part of a cycle of novels "Immortal Guidance", depicts immortal exploits leader Kim Jong Il performed by frustrating all sorts of challenges by the imperialists and reactionaries and firmly defending socialism. The novel is set against the background of the period from late in the 1990s to the beginning of the new century when the DPRK underwent stern trials. Kim Jong Il climbed Mt. Osong in August Juche 87 (1998) with his unshakable will to build a thriving nation on this land, firmly sticking to Songun as a treasured sword for sure victory. The novel portrays the brilliant commander of Songun who reached a height on the foremost front by making a journey along a steep mountain pass of 151 turns with sharp cliffs and deep valleys below them and instilled conviction of victory into servicepersons of the Korean People's Army standing guard over the outposts of socialism. It tells about the leader who recollected the period of the Arduous March, forced march, noting that he could defend the country thanks to the Songun politics and Mt. Osong, a symbol of Songun. The novel is run through with the idea that the victory in the DPRK-U.S. confrontation was the fruition of his unique Songun politics, extraordinary strategy and outstanding leadership art. |
