The 100-day mourning period witnessed the steadfast will of all the servicepersons and civilians in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to eternally hold him in high esteem.

The title of DPRK Hero was awarded to the leader, in praise of the undying feats he performed on behalf of the Korean revolution and the cause of human independence for half a century.

The Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea on Jan. 12 announced its decision to keep the leader in state at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, erect his statue, institute February 16, his birthday, as the Day of the Shining Star and display large portraits with broad smile on his face and build towers to his immortality across the country.

The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly issued a decree on instituting Order of Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Il Prize, Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize and Kim Jong Il Children Honor Prize. Also gold and silver coins, with letters "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Will Be Immortal" inscribed in them, were minted to commemorate his 70th birth anniversary.

Badges carrying an image of smiling Kim Jong Il have been distributed to people throughout the country.

Equestrian statues of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on horsebacks were erected, the first of its kind in the history.

Letters "Peerless Patriot General Kim Jong Il. February 16, Juche 101 (2012)" were carved on a mammoth rock in Mt. Sokda in Jungsan County, South Phyongan Province.

The Kumsusan Memorial Palace was renamed the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16), the greatest national holiday. This was an expression of the Korean army and people's fixed will to hold Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as the eternal sun of Juche and surely accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered in Mt. Paektu.

On February 14, the title of Generalissimo of the DPRK was conferred on Kim Jong Il, who had turned the DPRK into a military power and led the standoff with the U.S.-led imperialists to a victory.

Meanwhile, Vol. 1 of "Complete Collection of Kim Jong Il's Works" was published in the DPRK. And the 16th Kimjongilia Festival was held ceremoniously to mark his birth anniversary.
