Kim Jong Il formulated the Three Principles of National Reunification, the 10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, precious legacies bequeathed by President Kim Il Sung, as the Three Charters for National Reunification. This was a great feat which helped the cause of national reunification of Koreans dynamically advance along the road indicated by the President.

While leading the cause of national reunification, Kim Jong Il made sure that the stand of independence was consistently preserved in the effort for solving the reunification issue on the principle of national independence by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.

He pursued the broad-minded politics of national unity to closely rally all Koreans under the banner of patriotism and make a steady progress in the movement for national reunification.

He provided the Korean nation with the June 15 joint declaration the core of which is the idea of "By our nation itself" and the October 4 declaration, thus giving a landmark for national reunification in the 21st century and laying a firm foundation for realizing the nation's centuries-old desire.

National reunification, a life-long wish of Kim Jong Il, will surely come true under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un who is leading the cause of Korean reunification with a strong sense of patriotism, far-sighted wisdom and outstanding leadership ability.
