Global Efforts to Develop Education

Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Several countries pay deep attention to the development of education on which the destiny of the country and nation hinges so that they may educate people as more competent social beings and ensure the independent development of the economy. President of China Hu Jintao said that science and technology are main elements, talents are the core and education is essential for promoting smooth and rapid development of the economy. President of Myanmar Thein Sein underscored the important role played by education in guaranteeing the future of the nation, saying it is only when all young people are prepared as intellectuals that the country can develop. President of Nigeria Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said the country can not achieve progress without the development of education, noting he would direct primary efforts to it. Other countries that recognized the importance of education have come out with positive measures for its development. Havana, the capital of Cuba, plans to train 40,000 technicians and skilled workers by channeling efforts into vocational education in the 2011-2012 academic year. Venezuela started a 6 month-long course for vocational education involving around 7 400 students at 94 vocational schools in its capital Caracas, Miranda and Vargas states in March. Ghana buckled down to carrying out a new plan for modernizing the educational field. The government of Angola plans to additionally enlist about 13 000 teachers in the run-up to the academic year 2012. The government of Mexico decided to allocate a big share of the state budget for 2012 for education of children and healthcare. The government of Nicaragua worked out a plan for giving children of more than 1.2 million poor families an opportunity of learning in the 2012-2016 period. |
