S. Korean Organizations Condemn Large-scale Joint Landing Drill

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- South Korean civic and social organizations including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress on March 29 made public a statement condemning the U.S. imperialists and south Korean warmongers for staging a large-scale joint landing drill under the simulated conditions of invasion of the north.

The statement said U.S. and south Korean marine forces staged the drill that day.

The exercise staged with nearly ten thousand troops involved as part of "Ssangyong" drill was the largest-ever in 23 years, it said.

The military said the drill was aimed at "containing the north and demonstrating the firm alliance with the U.S.", openly disclosing the aggressive and offensive nature of the drill against the north.

The statement demanded the U.S. and the south Korean authorities immediately halt acts to escalate the military tension and trouble on the Korean Peninsula.
