Branch Schools on Islets in West Sea of Korea

Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has branch schools on islets in the West Sea of Korea, each for a few children. Typical of them are schools on Suun and Rap islets in waters off North Phyongan Province. Light-keepers and their children are residing in the islets far away from Sinuiju City. The government of the DPRK built branch schools for one pupil on Suun Islet and two pupils on Rap Islet. Those primary schools are equipped with teaching tools, visual aids, samples of animals and plants and other teaching instruments. School opening and graduation ceremonies take place there like other schools on land. Foreign crews, who dropped in at the islets for some reasons, were moved to see the branch schools. They said it is only the DPRK that has public schools for a few children and that they should be listed on Guinness Book of World Records for their smallest enrollment in the world. |
