Korean Stamp Museum, Korean Stamp Exhibition Opened
Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- The Korean Stamp Museum was opened on April 9 with due ceremony on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

On display in the museum standing in the heart of the capital city are data on the revolutionary leadership provided by the three commanders of Mt. Paektu over the issue of stamps and those on various themes. Also displayed in a chronological order and according to contents are stamps and data on relics which comprehensively deal with the history of the development of stamps from the period of Ri Dynasty. Among them are stamp "Althea" and "Samson Rocks," the first variety of stamps issued in liberated Korea.

The Korean Stamp Exhibition was opened at the museum on the same day.

Seen in the venue were portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and general secretary Kim Jong Il and photos of Kim Jong Il and the dear respected Kim Jong Un enlarged from stamps.

The museum showcases stamps dealing with the revolutionary history of the President such as "The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung proclaiming the birth of the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army" and "The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung including a writing brush in our party emblem" and "The founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, our glorious motherland."

On display at the exhibition according to themes are stamps dealing with the immortal feats of Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk who devoted their whole lives to the prosperity of Kim Il Sung's nation, the country's reunification and global independence.

Among the stamps are diverse stamps contributed by philatelists.
