Korean Children's Association in Jilin

Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- April 10 marks the 85th anniversary of the Korean Children's Association formed by President Kim Il Sung in Jilin. Setting out on the road of the revolution in his early years, the President formed the Saenal Children's Union in Fusong of China before moving to Jilin at the beginning of Juche 16 (1927). At that time, a number of young people aspiring to the new and the truth were gathering there. President Kim Il Sung convened a meeting in March that year, at which he stressed the need to form a legitimate organization of youth and children and indicated tasks and ways for its formation and the name of it. Then, on the basis of full preparations he organized the Korean Children's Association in Jilin. The Association was aimed to educate boys and girls in the anti-Japanese idea and train them to be reliable reserves of the revolution, and its immediate task was to study fresh, advanced idea and introduce it among the broad masses. The Association consisted of various sections for organizational affairs, publicity, culture and sports and other affairs and had its branches at schools and in areas. Its experience and achievements served as a precious treasure and asset for the movement of young people in Korea. |
