Present there were senior party, state and army officials including Kim Yong Nam, Choe Yong Rim and Choe Ryong Hae the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army and the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, literature and arts, public health and media, persons of distinguished services, labor innovators and other working people.

All the participants observed a moment’s silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

Vice Marshal and Chief of the KPA General Staff Ri Yong Ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, made a report.

He said:

Kim Jong Il's election as NDC chairman was a historic event of epochal turn in developing the DPRK and accomplishing the Songun revolutionary cause of Juche.

His election provided the army and people of the DPRK with a sure guarantee for carrying forward the President's ideas and exploits on building national capabilities for self-defence and carrying out the party's line on state-building in the Songun era as well as glorifying the eternal future of Kim Il Sung's Korea.

Thanks to Kim Jong Il's Songun politics and Songun revolutionary strategy, the DPRK could turn into the world's military power and a full-fledged nuclear weapons state and its army and people could win victories in the political and military standoff with all aggression forces including the U.S. imperialists, who style themselves the world's super power, and the south Korean puppet warmongers.

The DPRK has become a country capable of manufacturing and launching satellites. And solid foundations have been laid for realizing the people's wishes and providing them with a highly civilized life including Juche-oriented production systems, up-to-date machine building industry and modern production bases. This is a shining fruition of the great devotion and persevering efforts made by Kim Jong Il.

He consistently adhered to the policy of the country’s reunification and foreign policy based on the Songun politics of national independence and patriotism, ushered in the June 15 era of reunification which advances in the idea of “By our nation itself” and remarkably enhanced the international prestige and influence of the DPRK.

He perfectly solved the issue of succession to the leadership. This is the greatest feat he performed for the prosperity of Kim Il Sung's Korea and the eternal happiness of its people.

The leadership of Kim Jong Un is a decisive guarantee for successfully carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche and the cause of building a thriving socialist nation that was pioneered by the President and victoriously led by Kim Jong Il.

The army and people of the DPRK are firmly convinced of the bright future of Songun Korea in the outstanding ideology, leadership and noble virtue of Kim Jong Un who is leading the drive to effect a fresh revolutionary surge in all fields of the revolution and construction including politics, military affairs, economy and culture.
