Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung had wisely guided all the Korean people to remain faithful to general secretary Kim Jong Il.

It was his steadfast will to carry forward the revolutionary cause of Juche, started in Mt. Paektu, by force of arms.

With the President's intention and the unanimous wishes of the entire party and army and all the people, Kim Jong Il was acclaimed as the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army on December 24, Juche 80 (1991).

He was also elected chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK on April 9, 1993.

The President had used to praise Kim Jong Il as the greatest man in the world and called on all the Korean people to remain loyal to his leadership. He personally wrote a poem dedicated to the leader on his 50th birthday.

He gave priority to strengthening the Workers' Party of Korea into vanguard ranks faithful to the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

In his speech "The Fundamental Guarantee for Victory in the Revolution Is to Strengthen the Party and Enhance Its Leadership Role", made at the banquet in celebration of the 45th birthday of the WPK in October 1990, he called on all the party organizations and members to remain loyal to the leadership of the WPK Central Committee.

And he comprehensively elaborated on the greatness of Kim Jong Il's ideas, leadership ability and personality in "For Carrying Forward and Accomplishing the Socialist Cause", his talks to the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and sons and daughters of revolutionary martyrs in March 1992 and January and March 1993.

The President attended a meeting of Korean intellectuals in December 1992, encouraging them to uphold the leadership of Kim Jong Il and reliably defend and glorify socialism with knowledge and technology.

In his letter to the 8th Congress of the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea, he stressed the need for all the young people to be united as one in mind around the leader in order to creditably accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche.

When meeting officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and compatriots from Japan in September 1993, he called for conducting the patriotic drive of Koreans in Japan as intended by Kim Jong Il.

In this way the President provided a decisive guarantee for the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche and eternal prosperity of the nation by perfectly ensuring the continuity of leadership.
