The plan of building the theatre was in the mind of general secretary Kim Jong Il from some ten years ago and it was a project particularly favored by him even during the last moments of his life, Kim Jong Un said, adding with pleasure that now we have carried out one of the behests of the leader, who had always been thinking about building the best theatre for the Korean people.

The theatre is new and peculiar in the architecture and content and immaculate in all from its design to the construction, the supreme commander said, adding that Kim Jong Il would have been very much pleased if he had seen the theatre that has been built as a grand edifice since he had devoted all his life to the people.

Calling the People's Theatre an excellent cultural and arts seat in the Songun era which can be boasted for its elegant and majestic harmony, elaboration and modernity, the supreme leader expressed great satisfaction. He said now it has become possible to hand down to posterity another valuable treasure indicative of the tradition of the Juche-oriented arts.

He highly estimated the feats performed by soldier builders who took charge of the project, and extended thanks to them.

He called for actively exploring and designing new, original and peculiar architecture so as to build more structures suited to the feelings of the Koreans and their aesthetic desire. He also called for effecting steady renovation in the formative and artistic representation of architectural buildings.
