Intensive Actions against Jeju Naval Base Construction Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- Civic and social organizations of different circles in south Korea held the 151st action for independence, reunification and peace in Seoul on April 10 and demanded the "government" authorities stop the savage and illegal construction of a naval base on Jeju Island.

The organizations recalled that the Jeju islanders and peace activists have opposed the construction.

However, the "government" used such violence as taking away and detaining the protestors, they said.

They called on people from all walks of life to turn out in the intensive actions against the Jeju naval base construction as it degrades environment of the island and threatens peace on the Korean Peninsula.
