Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the KPA, came out to the venue of the opening ceremony.

Present at the ceremony were Kim Yong Nam, Choe Yong Rim, Choe Ryong Hae, Ri Yong Ho and other senior officials of the party, state and army, representatives for the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of the President, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, teachers and students of Kim Il Sung Military University, service personnel of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and others.

Present there on invitation were foreign diplomatic envoys and members of the military attaches corps here.

Displayed at the exhibition built in Pyongyang are thousands of arms and combat and technical equipment ranging from small arms to various types of artillery pieces, tanks, armored cars, warships, aircraft and strategic rockets manufactured at munitions plants in the DPRK.

KPA Vice Marshal Ri Yong Ho, chief of the KPA General Staff, made an opening address.

Generalissimo Kim Il Sung laid down the line and policy on building the Juche-based defence industry and wisely led the struggle for implementing them, Ri said, and continued:

General Secretary Kim Jong Il worked heart and soul for rapidly developing the DPRK's defence industry into a cutting-edge industry capable of manufacturing any modern arms and equipment as it wishes.

The conversion of the DPRK into a matchless military power is the greatest feat the President and the leader performed on behalf of the country and the revolution.

A grim situation is prevailing at present due to the reckless moves of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet group of traitors for a war of aggression against the DPRK, but the security of the Songun country will be firmly guaranteed as long as there are the self-defensive revolutionary armed forces which have been built thanks to the undying feats of the great persons of Mt. Paektu.

Kim Jong Un cut off a red tape hanging before the building, declaring the KPA Exhibition of Arms and Equipment inaugurated.

He, together with senior officials of the party, army and state, went round various wings of the exhibition and its outdoor grounds.
