Day of Sun Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- The DPRK significantly celebrated the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung. Officials, working people and school youth and children across the country placed floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before statues of the President on the occasion. An endless stream of people from all walks of life and school youth and children visited Mangyongdae. Broad sections of people and school youth and children visited the 14th Kimilsungia Festival venue and the Kimilsungia exhibition halls in each province and the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Greenhouses in cities and counties in boundless reverence for the President. Art performances were given in theatres, halls, open-air theaters in the capital city of Pyongyang and localities. A music and dance performance was given in Phyongsong by artistes, working people and school youth and children in South Phyongan Province. The large-scale choruses of working people and women's union members and youth and students were given in Manpho and Huichon. The grand choir "We will hold in high esteem the eternal sun of the nation for all ages" was given in the plaza of Victorious Battle of Pochonbo Memorial Tower by artistes in Ryanggang Province and working people in Hyesan City. The workers of the industrial establishments in the DPRK spent the holiday, enjoying performances given by art groups and playing sports and amusement games. Among them were the February 8 Vinalon Complex, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, the Ryongsong Machine Complex, the Huichon Precision Machine Plant and the February 8 Jikdong Youth Coal Mine. Mass gymnastic displays took place by school youth and children in provincial seats. A variety of holiday dishes were served in the public catering centers. Parks, recreation grounds and holiday resorts were crowded with holiday-makers. Sports and amusements games were held in many units including the Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex, the Wonsan Railway Rolling-Stock Complex and the Migok Co-op Farm in the city of Sariwon. |
