The festival made an artistic representation of all people's deep reverence for President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Artistes of various countries who took part in the festival displayed high artistry, making contributions to boosting the cultural cooperation among countries and developing human culture and arts.

Present at the closing ceremony were Premier Choe Yong Rim, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, An Tong Chun, minister of Culture who is chairman of the festival organizing committee, Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and other officials concerned, Pyongyang citizens, foreign artistes, overseas Korean artistes, diplomatic envoys of various countries, staff members of foreign embassies here, foreign guests and overseas Koreans.

Group prizes went to the Chinese art troupe (song and dance ensemble of the Chinese People's Liberation Army), the Russian Cossack State Dance Company, the Chorus Troupe of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, the art troupe of the Koreans in Japan and the art troupe of Koreans in China.

Prizes of merit, creative and individual prizes and ensemble prizes were awarded to many artistes and works.

Diplomas, gold and silver cups and gold and silver statuettes and prize money went to successful participants at the ceremony.

A letter of thanks to Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, from the participants in the festival was adopted at the closing ceremony.

An Tong Chun made a closing address.

Then followed a performance by foreign artistes.
