Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) -- The Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea, which was held on September 28, Juche 99 (2010) in Pyongyang, elected its supreme leadership.

It was attended by representatives elected at meetings of party organizations of the Korean People's Army, provinces and political bureaus.

Put up at the conference for discussion were agenda items on re-election of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as WPK general secretary, amendments to WPK's rules and election of its leadership.

The representatives unanimously approved the decision on his re-election.

The amended rules stipulate that the WPK shall have President Kim Il Sung as eternal leader of the Party and revolution. And they highlight the undying feats Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed for founding and strengthening of the Party.

The conference declared a new line-up of the WPK's supreme leadership as well as its position and role, suited to its characteristics as an ideological integral whole with Kim Jong Il as the centre.

It approved the revision of obligations of party members and duties of party organizations and supplemented the rules with new chapters "Party and Government" and the "WPK's Emblem and Flag". The amended rules call for enhancing the Party's guidance over the government and the youth league and upgrading roles of party organizations in the army.

Through the conference, the WPK clearly proved its might as an experienced and seasoned political general staff leading the Songun (military-first) revolution.

It strikingly demonstrated the steadfast will of the Korean people to follow Kim Jong Il only and the single-minded unity between the leader and his people.
