The KPA, which originated from the Korean People's Revolutionary Army founded in 1932, has grown to be a-match-for-a hundred ranks under the care of President Kim Il Sung, the statement said.

The KPA, which inflicted a disastrous defeat upon the U.S. imperialist aggressors during the past Fatherland Liberation War, again successfully beat them when there occurred armed spy ship "Pueblo" case, "EC-121" large spy plane case and the Panmunjom case, it noted, and went on:

The KPA which has developed into the revolutionary armed forces of Juche type is the army of the leader, the party and the working class.

The might of the KPA has grown stronger under the leadership of Kim Jong Il who pursued the Songun politics which gives top priority to the KPA, the pillar and main force of the revolution.

The KPA is equipped with latest type weapons and the DPRK had an access to powerful nuclear deterrent, it said, adding:

The 80 year-long history of the KPA is a history of victory and glory.

The KPA, the vanguard of the Songun revolution, emerged victorious in the confrontation with imperialism and will do so in the future, too, under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, supreme commander of the KPA.
