It was the first time for the chorus to take part in the festival. Informed of the festival to be held on the occasion of President Kim Il Sung's 100th birth anniversary, the Indonesian government decided to send the chorus to Pyongyang to show the Indonesian people's reverence for him at the festival.

Organized in Juche 88 (1999), the chorus involves famous singers.

It had attended concerts hosted by the Indonesian president on scores of occasions, and rose to fame at various art festivals of Asian countries.

The chorus put on the stage of the April Art Festival Korean songs "Don't Advance Night of Pyongyang" and "I Cannot Tell It Yet", drawing bursts of applauds from the audience.
