Marcia de Campos Pereira, president of the federation, in a report at the opening ceremony of the congress, said that the DPRK is a signpost of those countries advancing toward independence against imperialism as it is firmly defending its sovereignty despite the moves of the imperialists to invade and stifle it.

She extended support and encouragement to the Korean women and other people in their struggle to shatter all the provocations of the imperialists.

Speakers denounced the United States for throwing hurdles in the way of the Korean people for the peaceful reunification of the country while constantly keeping its aggression troops in south Korea.

The final declaration adopted at the congress underlined the need to organize the solidarity committee of the Women's International Democratic Federation for supporting the cause of the Korean people.

The congress adopted a solidarity statement for supporting the cause of the Korean people titled "The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean Lee Myung Bak group, stop at once threat and blackmail against the DPRK and ensure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula".

The Women's International Democratic Federation in a statement said that it together with world progressive mankind positively supports the policy of the DPRK and the efforts of its scientists to develop and use space for the building of an independent state.

The congress adopted a letter to the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

There was a march for solidarity with the world women for peace. The participants shouted slogans supporting the cause of the Korean people who are dynamically advancing the socialist cause under the uplifted banner of Songun and the banner of independence against imperialism.
