The youth and children who turned out in the candlelight action against the import of American beef in 2008 denounced the "government" for not taking any measure though the people's lives are threatened by reoccurrence of mad cow disease in the U.S.

They assailed Lee Myung Bak for remaining utterly indifferent to the health of the people, regarding the relations with the U.S. more important than it.

They declared that they would wage a widespread candlelight struggle against the present regime keen on meeting only the interests of the Lee group, paying no heed to the people's voices.

Then they demanded the authorities stop the import of the American beef at once.
