The Rungra Pleasure Ground for People covering an area of nearly 100 hectares consists of the Rungra Dolphin Aquarium, Rungra Wading Pool, Rungra Funfair, etc. The first leg of his visit was the construction site of the Rungra Dolphin Aquarium. The aquarium has a building area of 5 980 square meters and a total plottage of 14 940 square meters with 1 460 seats. He highly appreciated the laudable feats soldier-builders performed by completing in the main the vast project for the construction of the aquarium in a matter of less than a year. The pool consists of water slide with four tracks 18 meters high and more than one hundred meters long, a shower bath site, soft drink stands, dressing room, etc. He was very pleased to picture to himself the happy school youth and children and working people who will laugh boisterously while fully enjoying wading at the wading pool when completed on the occasion of the day of the victory in the war. He underlined the need to add a diving tower and different service facilities to the area around the wading pool so that it may be a cultural recreation place for people which will remain impeccable even in the distant future. He also went round the Rungra Funfair. It consists of two districts -- a variety of amusement facilities such as mad mouse, nose diving tower, octopus merry-go-round, temptation merry-go-round, flying cycle and various service facilities. Making the rounds of various places of the first and second districts of the funfair, he acquainted himself in detail with its construction. He kindly told about the need to make a new passage so that visitors may come and go to the funfair divided into the two districts and to build soft drink stands in a more fashionable style to their convenience. He also learned about the progress made in the embankment project of Rungra Islet to protect the Rungra Pleasure Ground for People from flood damage. While giving field guidance to the work for the development of the pleasure ground, he set forth important tasks for turning Rungra Islet into the pleasure ground for people including the way of satisfactorily easing strain on traffic, the measure to make a comprehensive use of the River Taedong and the issue arising in light decoration. The pleasure ground is a gift to be presented by the WPK to the people, he said, adding that it should be wound up by the day of the victory in the war this significant year. Noting that grand monumental edifices startling the world such as the Rungra Pleasure Ground for People are springing up one after another across the country under the wise leadership of the WPK, he stressed the need to build more structures to suit the people's idea and feelings, aesthetic taste and demand. |
