The Nordic preparatory committee for celebrating the centenary of the President's birth was formed in August 2008. It was the first of its kind and it was followed by the formation of more than 100 preparatory committees till 2011.

More than 23 200 copies of the translated versions of works of the peerlessly great persons were published in scores of countries with due ceremonies.

At least 12 000 newspapers, news agencies, radios, magazines, bulletins and internet websites around the world carried special write-ups carrying portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and photos dealing with the revolutionary activities of Kim Jong Un.
