New Species of Flowers Bred
Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Horticulture Institute has bred new species of beautiful flowers.

Over the last decade the institute succeeded in breeding more than 100 species of flowers that originated from various countries and regions to suit the taste and emotion of the Korean people.

Among them is Manbokhwa (flower of all blessings) named by the dear respected Kim Jong Un, saying it is very beautiful.

Manbokhwa belonging to cymbidium of orchid family is a perennial flower that remains green all the year round. It is not only beautiful but keeps blooming for a longer period than any other species.

The institute newly bred new species of cymbidium and gerbera growing in different parts and regions of the world.

Cymbidium lasts more than 30 days if it is kept in a vase. It is good for flower pots and bouquets.

Gerbera is diverse in its color. When a flower stalk is broken, a new one grows and comes into bloom, drawing attention of people.

The institute is making sustained efforts to acclimatize new species of flowers and a lot of flowers such as tulip and dahlia to the climatic and soil conditions of Korea and spread them to various parts of the country.
