Stop to Import of American Beef Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Members of the Women's Society and other organizations in south Korea staged a candlelight rally at Chonggye Square in Seoul on Wednesday to protest against the "government" authorities' intention to keep importing American beef.

Speakers at the rally held that the survey team dispatched to the U.S. to confirm the mad cow disease is, in fact, a group of tourists touring the U.S. with the money collected from the people as taxes.

Paying no heed to the people's voices expressing their desire to know truth, the team did not visit the farm where mad cow disease reportedly occurred, they deplored, querying is this an expression of their concern for the people's lives and safety.

They urged the "government" to admit its mistakes and apologize to the people and, at the same time, stop the suppression of the participants in the candlelight rally.

The authorities should halt the import of American beef as soon as possible, they demanded, calling for a more dynamic candlelight rally than in 2008 in case they refuse to stop the import.
