It brought together more than 5 000 school youth and children selected from every province of the country. The contest is divided into groups of secondary and primary schools. The participants will compete in 30 odd events including Taekwon-Do, basketball, volleyball and table tennis.

Its opening ceremony took place at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street here on Wednesday.

Jon Yong Nam, first secretary of the C.C., the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony there were a demonstration of Taekwon-Do and a basketball match.
