Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- A vigorous drive is now going on in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to spruce up the capital city of Pyongyang. Standing in the van of this undertaking is the Management Bureau of the Speed Campaign Youth Shock Brigade. With its creditable building forces and equipment, the Bureau had finished building apartment structures in the Mansudae area ahead of other units and is now giving a final touch to the projects. Organized on May 16, Juche 64 (1975) on the initiative of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, this unit has performed praiseworthy feats in construction projects over the past 30 years. Young builders made signal achievements in building revolutionary sites in Mt. Paektu, Lake Samji, Mt. Wangjae and Oun-dong and took a lion's share in erecting Kim Il Sung Square, the Grand People's Study House, International Friendship Exhibition House, Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and other monumental edifices. They also played a positive role in laying Manpho-Hyesan Youth Railway, electrifying railways and building major industrial establishments, including the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant. Their great feats are associated with apartment buildings in different streets of Pyongyang, the Changgwang Health Complex, the Pyongyang Ophthalmology Hospital and other welfare and medical service establishments. Awarded Order of Kim Il Sung, the Bureau boasts of tens of thousands of recipients of state orders, including the Title of Labor Hero. |
