Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- A joint concert was given at the music hall of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Thursday to mark the national day of Norway. Attending the concert were famous artistes of Norway who visited Pyongyang as members of a friendship cultural delegation. In the concert they well represented Norwegian folk songs "Longing for Spring" and "Across Sandy Trail" and Korean song "Nostalgia" to be applauded. A Norwegian bayan player gave joint renditions with students of Kumsong School of the DPRK. With high artistry and admirable ensemble, they successfully performed favorite songs of the two countries as accordion concert, among them serial songs "Arirang" and "Hunting High and Low". Head of the delegation Morten Traavik, who visited Pyongyang six times, joined the performance with his little son to add brilliance to the concert. The concert hall was seized with deep friendship. Morten Traavik said: "I think that we are together creating a window of understanding. Those people, who are curious, can look through the window and look at each other and may understand more of each other. And I must say I am very proud that we managed to accomplish this joint concert. I think it shows potential for what we can achieve also in a future's collaboration. We would like to continue the collaboration, especially with accordion players as they are now very famous and very popular in Norway. I believe that the DPRK has a lot of skilled, enthusiastic and talented people who have resolved to show the world what they can do." |
