The governor prodded police and gangsters into suppressing the activists who called for the halt to the construction of the naval base and taking away four people, the society noted, and went on:

The governor siding with the authorities indifferent to the livelihood of the citizens is not needed any more.

The society would wage an unflinching struggle to force the governor disregarding the people's demand to step down while strongly protesting the construction of the Jeju naval base, it said.
