Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- People from all walks of life in south Korea including media persons and religionists established the Minjok Ilbo Memorial Society on May 23. An inaugural meeting of the society took place at the Press Center in Seoul on the same day. Speakers at the meeting said that the objective of the society is to reinforce the committee for probing the truth behind Jo Yong Su of Minjok Ilbo as required by the prevailing situation in a bid to eradicate irregularities and corruption and strengthen the pro-reunification democratic forces. They recalled that the Park Chung-Hee dictatorial forces forced Minjok Ilbo to stop publication though it conducted activities for awakening people and arousing them to a sacred struggle for the country's reunification in 1961 and punished its Manager Jo Yong Su. They accused Park Geun Hye, daughter of that dictator, of going reckless in her bid to become "president". It is of very great importance to establish the society under this grim situation, they said, calling upon all the Koreans to make a contribution to the reunification of the nation. |
