S. Korean Authorities Accused of Gagging on Press

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- A "Joint Measure Committee for the Release of Representative Ri Chang Gi and Reporter Han Song of Jaju Minbo and Frustration of Gag on the Press" grouping civic and public organizations of south Korea held a press conference outside the puppet Seoul Central District Court on May 22 at which it accused the puppet authorities of suppressing media.

Speakers at the press conference chided the authorities for cracking down upon them after indicting them on charges of violating the "Security Law."

They conducted press activities in order to inform the people of truth, prompted by their desire to hold in check the war racket which has mounted since the emergence of the present "government", ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula, improve the inter-Korean relations and make a contribution to reunification, they said, adding the activities of Jaju Minbo were just as they were aimed at ending confrontation and achieving national reunification, the desire of the Koreans.

They renewed their will to wage a dynamic struggle for getting all the prisoners of conscience including Ri and Han released and an evil law abolished.
