The lake, three square kilometers in area and 10 kilometers in circumference, boasts of beautiful scenery and healthful mud.

The Sijungho Sanatorium, fully equipped with medical facilities, serves treatment of various diseases by use of mud in the lake.

Along with mud treatment, the sanatorium is known as serving physiotherapy and climatotherapy. It has rooms for high-frequency, low-frequency, ray and massage treatment. Sea and sun bath is a kind of remedies.

Jon Sung Hui (58), a woman living in Jung District of Pyongyang, told KCNA:

"The mud of Lake Sijung is very efficacious. I stay here for scores of days each year in consecutive two years to heal the aftereffect of cerebral thrombosis. Now I feel better."

An old man living in Wonsan said that rice-gruel and peppery soup mixed with fish taken in Sijung Lake are exquisite flavor.

Boating and angling are one of main entertainments in the sanatorium.
