Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association issued a joint statement on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising. On May 18, 1980 Kwangju citizens of south Korea rose up in an uprising against the military fascist dictatorship of the Chun Doo Hwan puppet regime and the U.S. imperialists' policy of colonial rule. The uprising recorded a new chapter in the history of resistance for independence, democracy and reunification as a righteous and heroic anti-fascist, anti-imperialist struggle of the south Korean popular masses and revolutionaries, the statement noted, and continued: The blood shed by the participants in the uprising will not be in vain but they will certainly take revenge upon the oppressors some day. The Lee Myung Bak puppet fascist regime is facing the second and third Kwangju popular uprising and it is bound to collapse due to the eruption of the pent-up resentment of the south Korean people. We pay tribute to the heroic resistance of the uprisers. We support the south Korean people's struggle for independence, democracy and reunification. And we, at the same time, fully support their struggle to bring down the Lee Myung Bak puppet fascist regime and force the U.S. imperialist Yankees to quit south Korea. |
