US Accused of Intention to Keep Pro-US Regime: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- It was reported that an expert on Korean affairs of the U.S. Centre for Strategic and International Studies and former high ranking U.S. officials flew into Seoul to meet "presidential" candidates including Park Geun Hye and exhaustively tap their "views on the north", etc. before the "presidential election" slated to take place in December. Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard: This is an open interference in the internal affairs of south Korea and reveals the sinister intention to calm down the daily growing desire of the people for independent reunification and zealously back the ultra-right conservative forces in a bid to prolong the pro-U.S. dictatorship system. It is not secret that the U.S. has so far arbitrarily controlled south Korean politics, it says, and goes on: What should not be overlooked is that the U.S. tricksters got nervous about sounding out south Korean "presidential" candidates' views and understanding of the DPRK. The south Korean democratic and pro-reform forces strongly call for making the "election" an opportunity of establishing a system whereby to achieve national independence and north-south reconciliation and implement the north-south joint declarations. This cannot but be a big threat to the U.S. as it mulls strengthening the domination over south Korea after focusing its strategy for world domination on the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. tricksters' south Korean junket to tap "presidential" candidates' "views on the north" fully reveals such uneasiness. However, the U.S. sinister intention can never come true in south Korea where independence against the U.S. and national reconciliation have become a trend of the times. |
