Korea's Cause Supported by WFDY
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the General Council of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) was held in Zimbabwe on May 23 and 24.

Present there were the president and the general-secretary of the federation, delegations and delegates of 31 youth and student organizations from 29 countries including the DPRK, Cuba, Vietnam and Russia and personages and members of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front and youth organizations under it.

Delegates of different countries in their speeches demanded the U.S. withdraw its troops from south Korea and the south Korean authorities stop at once the moves against the DPRK.

The meeting adopted and published the statement of the federation on the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula, a political statement of the meeting expressing support and solidarity with the DPRK and an action program of the federation.

The statements urged the south Korean authorities to unconditionally stop the heinous anti-DPRK rackets and the U.S. to discontinue the war exercises for aggression against the DPRK and pull its troops and war military hardware out of south Korea.

The June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for its implementation, are the most just landmark for achieving the reunification of the country independently and peacefully by the concerted efforts of the Koreans, the statements said. They demanded the U.S. and other countries concerned responsible for the division of the Korean Peninsula render positive cooperation in thoroughly implementing the declarations.

The General Council of the federation decided to positively conduct multifarious solidarity activities for denouncing the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' moves for confrontation with the DPRK and supporting the Korean people and youth in their struggle for the sovereignty and development of the country and its independent and peaceful reunification.
