As already known, All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration discussed the issue of holding with splendor a reunification event common to the nation at Mt. Kumgang resort on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the joint declaration at the working-level contact of the north, the south and overseas sides made in Shenyang, China early in February.

This was the just efforts of the non-governmental reunification movement to immediately defuse the present phase of confrontation and pave the way for national reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification through the implementation of inter-Korean declarations and has enjoyed great concern and support at home and abroad.

The south Korean authorities, however, are sticking to the stand that they cannot allow the above-said event. Worse still, they are putting all sorts of political pressure upon the delegation of the south side committee which had attended the above-said contact to defuse the phase of confrontation and promote the event.

The historic June 15 joint declaration should be implemented without fail as it is the common landmark for reunification which ushered in a new era in the national history.

All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration decided to hold the event in the north and the south and abroad separately under the situation where their delegates are unable to meet at one place due to the south Korean authorities' unreasonable disallowance of contact and vicious moves for confrontation with fellow countrymen.

Though the event has to be held separately this year, All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration will invariably demonstrate the firm will and spirit of all the fellow countrymen to advance for reconciliation, peace and independent reunification under the banner of the north-south joint declarations.
