S. Korean Press Union Members Launch Hunger Strike
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Ri Kang Thaek, chairperson of the south Korean Press Trade Union, and Kim Hyon Sok, chief of the Headquarters of KBS, started hunger strike on May 29.

They held a press conference as regards the hunger strike in Seoul.

They at the press conference said that members of the union are on an indefinite general strike in protest against the authorities' moves to control the press. They said that the Lee Myung Bak "government" and the "Saenuri Party" are busy distorting the truth about their moves to put the press under their control and dodging the responsibility for it while talking about the "politically-motivated strike" and "illegal strike".

The people are hardly repressing their resentment at Park Geun Hye who seeks to revive the departed soul of "yusin" dictator and make media a trumpeter of the "government" just as Lee Myung Bak did, they said, adding they are now witnessing the uncontrollable regime which defies the demands of the people for no reason.

Declaring that they would wage hunger strike in demand of replacement of conservative media's directors, impartiality of media and reinstatement of dismissed pressmen, they renewed their will to make more dynamic efforts to surely punish the present "government".
