Rodong Sinmun Assails S. Korea's Planned Purchase of Military Hardware from U.S.

Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak group of traitors is reportedly envisaging the import of huge amount of military hardware worth of more than ten billion U.S. dollars from the U.S. under the pretext of coping with "threat from the north." A typical example is the purchase of multi-purpose helicopter MH-60R Sea Hawk and Harpoon missile now on the way by the south Korean puppet forces at the cost of more than a billion of U.S. dollars. Rodong Sinmun Monday in a bylined commentary observes in this regard: South Korea's planned purchase of military hardware is really a reckless one as it will further escalate the military confrontation and tension between the north and the south and increase the danger of a war in the Korean Peninsula. More dangerous is that most of the military hardware to be purchased by the puppet war maniacs is up-to-date fighters, drones, missiles and other means for pre-emptive strikes, the commentary says, and goes on: What the group of Lee Myung Bak seeks in its reckless moves of importing combat equipment from the U.S. by spending huge amount of money is to win favor and support from its U.S. master in return for bulging its money purse and thus realize its ambition for stay in power and ignition of a war against the DPRK at any cost. Never to be tolerated are such acts of spending the money collected from the south Korean people as taxes for plunging the nation and the territory into a war and fattening up the U.S. master, not for addressing people's destitution. The pro-U.S. conservative forces should not be allowed to return to power not only for the peace on this land but to rid the south Koreans of present misery and pain. The huge arms buildup being stepped up by the Lee group of traitors while citing the DPRK is a foolish and self-suicidal act of war maniacs bereft of reason. |
