Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- It has been 86 years since Kim Hyok Jik, outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea, passed away at the age of 32 on June 5, Juche 15 (1926), leaving the idea of "Jiwon" as a valuable legacy to President Kim Il Sung. The poem "Green Pine on Nam Hill", composed by him, is run through with the idea of "Jiwon" (Aim High), his lifelong motto. "Jiwon" represents the indomitable spirit to win the independence of the country by fighting the Japanese invaders through generations. Kim Hyok Jik inspired the Korean people, including the champions of national independence and youth, with the idea of "Jiwon" to lead them to the anti-Japanese patriotic struggle. He had conducted his energetic activities to enlighten the popular masses in the wide areas of the homeland as well as overseas areas including Jiandao and Shanghai of China. In those days he formed the Korean National Association and convened the Chongsudong Meeting and Kuandian Meeting, which were greatly conducive to changing the course of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea from the nationalist movement to the proletarian revolution. "Jiwon" served as a torch giving hope and confidence in national resurrection to the people and as guidelines for encouraging the anti-Japanese national liberation movement. This idea is still shining along with the prosperity of Songun Korea guided by the dear respected Kim Jong Un. |
