Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Rice-transplantation is progressing at a final phase in major fields of the country. Rice-transplantation has been finished on at least 1 400 farms of more than 80 cities and counties across the country. Forerunners in this work were agricultural workers at Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City, Chongsan Co-op Farm in Kangso District, Tongbong Co-op Farm in Hamju County, Samjigang Co-op Farm in Jaeryong County, Sinam Co-op Farm in Ryongchon County and Unhung Co-op Farm in Thaechon County. The rice-transplantation has been completed in Pyongyang City, Jagang and North Hamgyong provinces. More than 95 percent of rice-transplantation was done by machines in South Hwanghae Province. As a result, over 80 farms in Haeju City, Anak and Jaeryong counties carried out their rice-transplantation under their plans. Major paddy fields of farms in Jungsan, Sukchon and Mundok counties in South Phyongan Province were carpeted with rice seedlings, except for rice-seedling beds. Rice-transplantation came to an end on more than 300 farms in North Phyongan Province as of Wednesday. Hundreds of farms in North Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces finished rice-transplantation and the number of those successful farms is on the steady increase. Hoeyang, Sepho and Popdong counties in Kangwon Province finished rice-transplantation in a short span of time by putting the work on a scientific and technical basis. In the wake of successful completion of rice-transplantation the farms are now busy sowing seeds of other crops and manuring and cultivating rice seedlings. |
