With the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration in 2000 as a momentum, the north and the south made active efforts for reconciliation, cooperation and exchange to alleviate military tensions and establish peaceful relations, said the statement, adding:

But the Lee Myung Bak regime stroke down all the achievements, totally denied the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and laid an obstacle in the way of peaceful reunification with the policy of confrontation with the DPRK.

Confrontation with fellow countrymen will bring nothing but war, said the statement, urging the Lee regime to opt for implementation of the north-south joint declarations for reconciliation and peaceful reunification, desire of the Korean nation, though belatedly.
