S. Korean Youth Accuse Lee Myung Bak of Increasing Tension
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration made public a statement calling for opposition to war, realization of peace and improvement of south-north relations" at a press conference in Seoul on June 7.

The organization denounced the Lee regime in south Korea for having pushed ties with the north to deadlock in violation of the joint declarations and cried out for "no nukes, opening and 3 000 dollars" and severed civilian exchange by taking "May 24 steps" under the pretext of the "Cheonan" warship sinking case.

The south Korean "government" authorities have persistently made remarks and acts provoking the north from the beginning of its office, the statement said, accusing them of staging large-scale war drills to strengthen military alliance with the U.S. and Japan.

Recently the authorities have tried to set people at odds by kicking off a campaign against "forces following the north" and escalated crackdown on progressive forces and pro-reunification activists on charges of violation of the "Security Law", the statement said.

The present "government" has been intent on pushing the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war by irritating the north and fostering feud in society, and letting the conservative Cold War-minded forces stay in power by fabricating threadbare "north wind", it added.

It urged the "government" to withdraw the theory of "forces following the north" and stop oppression under the pretext of security that runs counter to democracy and peaceful reunification but come out to improve the inter-Korean relations.
