Pyongyang International Insurance Seminar Opens
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang International Insurance Seminar was opened at Yanggakdo International Hotel on Tuesday under the joint sponsorship of the Korean National Insurance Corporation (KNIC) and the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers.

The participants of the seminar are expected to hear valuable papers to be presented by insurance experts at home and abroad and personages on providing insurance guarantee for natural disasters and calamities and issues of international concern and have discussions on them.

Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet, So Tong Myong, chairman of the ECM of the KNIC who is chairman of the Organizing Committee of the seminar, insurance workers of the corporation and in local areas and officials concerned.

Among those present were Hammam Badr, secretary general of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers, delegates and delegations of companies of Russia, Sudan, Switzerland, Britain, Australia, India, China and Tanzania, and the delegation of the Kumgang Insurance Company of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, foreign diplomatic envoys and staff members of foreign embassies and missions of international organizations here.

Yang Hyong Sop in his congratulatory speech expressed belief that the seminar would be a significant gathering contributing to the development of insurance against natural disasters in each country as required by the times and provide an occasion of boosting solidarity and cooperation in business on the principles of friendship and mutual benefit.

Hammam Badr in his speech extended highest tribute and thanks to the peerlessly great men of the DPRK for extending support to the activities of the Federation, expressing his hope that speakers would help have a correct understanding of new challenges.
