Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- ITAR-TASS of Russia on June 10 gave publicity to the successful celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) in the DPRK. It said as follows: More than 20 000 exemplary students of primary and secondary schools across the country came to Pyongyang at invitation. They were specially selected from every nook and corner of the country including remote mountain villages and isolated islands. The KCU delegates visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il lie in state and other places. They enjoyed performances given by famous art troupes of the DPRK including the Pyongyang Circus and the popular Unhasu Orchestra. Visits to the Central Zoo and the Central Botanical Garden were also organized in honor of the delegates. The joint national meeting of the KCU organizations to celebrate its 66th anniversary took place at Kim Il Sung Stadium on June 6. Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, blessed the bright future of the younger generation at the meeting. He in his speech called upon them to follow the examples set by heroic members of the Anti-Japanese Children's Corps and juvenile guerillas during the Fatherland Liberation War. Sniffles could be heard among participants when the KCU congratulatory group referred to stories about immortal exploits of leader Kim Jong Il in the celebration poem. At the meeting the KCU members pledged to remain intensely loyal to leader Kim Jong Un. |
