Vietnam Urges U.S. to Properly Survey Damage Done by Defoliant

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Dissatisfied with how little the United States has done to assume its responsibility with the spread of defoliant over Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan urged scientists from that country to investigate in-depth the inflicted damage. Thien Nhan met here with a delegation from the American Public Health Association. Millions of people were exposed during almost one decade (1961-1971) to the effects of the dioxin used by U.S. air force, and its toxic consequences that still vent on young generations. The Vietnamese leader urged his interlocutors to lead on the ground a deep investigation, so concrete data were used to demand the necessary assistance in environmental detoxification, rehabilitation and treatments. |
