Anniversary of June 15 Joint Declaration Observed Abroad

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The world hailed the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration as an ever-lasting banner for Korea's reunification. Otete Gaston Mboyo, deputy general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Democratic Congo and chairman of the Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association, said this in a statement on June 11.

The statement said:

The north and the south of Korea adopted the joint declaration the keynote of which is to reunify the country in the idea of "By our nation itself" on June 15, 2000.

But the joint declaration which was fully supported by Koreans in the north and the south of Korea and overseas and the world progressives 12 years ago is facing an ordeal due to the U.S. and other foreign forces' interference and perfidy on the part of the Lee Myung Bak group in south Korea.

It is the most fair and aboveboard way for reunifying Korea to implement the June 15 joint declaration.

The Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association is convinced that the Korean nation will put an end to the foreign forces' interference and thoroughly implement the joint declaration by the concerted efforts of the Koreans and thus achieve the historic cause of national reunification without fail.
