Koreans Called upon to Achieve Independence, Peace and Reunification in Spirit of June 15 Joint Declaration

| Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and other civic and public organizations and opposition parties of south Korea held a ceremony in Seoul on June 15 to mark the 12th anniversary of the joint declaration. They said they will dynamically struggle to achieve independence, peace and reunification in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration. At the ceremony speakers said that the joint declaration is a landmark for reunification to be held fast to by the Korean nation. It was thanks to the June 15 joint declaration that the south and the north could link railways and roads and realize cooperation despite the barrier of division, they noted, adding: All these things were blocked and the south and the north are barred from jointly holding June 15 events for reunification. The Lee Myung Bak regime in south Korea is wholly to blame for this. The present regime's racket for "eliminating the forces following the north" is a revelation of its intention to bring back the past fascist dictatorial regime. Reunification cannot be presented by anyone but it should be achieved through struggle |
