Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- It has been 48 years since leader Kim Jong Il started his work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on June 19, 1964. In the period he energetically led all sectors of the literature and arts in the country, thus bringing the era of the Renaissance in the 20th century. He authored a lot of celebrated works to give perfect answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in the development of the Juche-based literature and arts. Typical of them are "Theory of Cinematic Art", "On the Art of Opera", "Theory of Dancing Art", "On the Theatrical Arts" and "Theory of Musical Art". Under his energetic guidance masterpieces were adapted for films, operas, dramas and novels, including "The Sea of Blood" and "The Fate of a Self-Defence Corps Man" created by President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. In this course the DPRK witnessed the emergence of "The Sea of Blood"-style operas and "The Mountain Shrine"-style dramas. Multi-part feature film "The Nation and Destiny", which represents the Juche-based literature and arts in the 20th century, was also produced along with other multi-part feature films "Star of Korea" and "The Sun of the Nation". In recent years grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", light comedy "Echo of Mountain" and drama "We Will Recollect Today" were created and performed to encourage the army and people in the dynamic drive for building a thriving country. Famous art works of other countries were also created as operas and drama in the DPRK. They are "A Dream of Red Mansions," "A Sentry under a Neon Lamp" and "Evgeni Onegin". The immortal feats of Kim Jong Il, a genius of the literature and arts, will go down forever. |
